Spiritual Formation

Every part of life, everything we do, is spiritually forming us. As a community and as individuals, we do some specific things to make space for God's transforming work which is making us more like Christ. Things like praying, worshipping God, living as community, selfless giving, helping to meet for the needs of others, pursuing justice, and engaging with the Bible. We can't earn our way or achieve spiritual growth ourselves, but we can do these activities to open space for God to work and for us to become aware of where and how God is working.

See below for opportunities for spiritual formation in this community.

Bible Studies

Sermon Series

Reading the Bible together helps us to grow in knowledge of God and friendship with each other. We study scripture not only to know about God, but to know God and be transformed by God's Word.

Periodically, the congregation is invited to read scripture connected to a sermon series. Generally, there are suggestions of different ways to engage with the scriptures and times to share with the community.

Mid-week Groups

There are several weekly Bible studies that run from September to May:

  • A women's group meets on Monday mornings (9-10:30am) at the church. Childcare provided.

  • Another women's group meets on Thursday evenings (7:30-9pm) at the church. No childcare provided.

  • A men's group meets at a church member's home on Friday mornings (6-7:30am). No childcare provided.

Lectio on Zoom

"Lectio Divina" is Latin for "sacred reading" and is a slow and repetitive way of reading short sections of the Bible with space for prayer. It gives space to listen to God and open yourself to God's transforming work in your life.

One of our members leads Lectio on Zoom on the last Monday of the month (8-9pm EST).  Sign up for reminders and updates.

In Community

Adult Education

Our Adult Education program is designed to help us grow deeper in our faith and learn more about the Bible, theology, and the Christian life. We have regular Adult Education classes on Sunday mornings at 9:15am, September through May. Classes are informal and discussion-oriented, and childcare is provided. 2025-2026 schedule.

We also sponsor occasional evening events that include the wider community.

Small Groups

Small groups provide a place for ongoing spiritual formation, as well as friendship and fellowship. They are a great way for new people to get plugged into our community, and for long-term members to get to know others in the church.

Some small groups are kid-friendly, some for adults only. There are Bible studies, book studies, and groups that meet for fellowship meals. One of these groups could be right for you! Contact Pastor Chris for more information.

"Hands On"

Service to others is a spiritual practice and doing it with others is a great way to build community and get to know each other. There are countless ways for us to serve the brothers and sisters who worship with us—by teaching kids, playing an instrument, watching the young ones, helping with tech, and much, much more.

Our SHARE (Sharing Hope And REsources) team offers opportunities to serve our wider community as well, especially in connection to the local ministries we support.
