Meet our Staff

Rev. Dr. Chris Rea was ordained into ministry in the Christian Reformed Church in 2016, and transferred her ordination to the Reformed Church in America in 2025. She has a Ph.D. in Biblical studies from the University of Notre Dame, and and has received training in chaplaincy. The parts of her job that she enjoys most are reading commentaries and listening to people talk about their faith journeys. Chris is married to Mike, who is a philosopher, and they have five children. Chris enjoys running, reading, and ice skating, and hanging out in the backyard with friends and family. Grace lives in downtown South Bend with her husband, Danny, and their “flock” of four pigeons: Monty, JuJu, Ronnie, and Reggie. In addition to her role as Office Administrator at CotS, Grace uses her chemistry BS degree as an analytical chemist in the drinking water testing field. When not using her “right brain” at the lab or the office, Grace likes to let her “left brain” loose through painting, sketching, photography, and crafting short films.

Troy has picked up the skills necessary for the job in his wide variety of work experience (from pipe fitter to roughneck) and hobbies (from growing giant sunflowers to building boats). With a calling to stewardship, he likes to fix things right with as little cost to the environment as possible. He lives with his wife, Christina, and two pet corn snakes on seven acres he is steadily filling with fruit-bearing plants.​​​​

Andrea transitioned to her current position in 2022 after a decade of serving the church, first as Director of Youth, and then of Youth and Congregational Life. She is married to Cristian and they have four children. "Our family life is wrapped up in the life of this church. In our free time we love to play Viking Chess and soccer, visit with friends, watch movies, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and read as much as possible."

Christina (a.k.a. "Sheets") filled in as secretary and bookkeeper in 2018 and has been doing the books ever since. She relies on her drive for details even more than her math degree. Her other profession is doing spiritual direction and retreat ministry. Christina is queer and married to Troy. They share a love of starting many projects and often not finishing them. Among others, her projects include quilting, designing the hangings at the front of the sanctuary, making books, and renovating her house.

Tom has always had an interest in the building trades and enjoys learning new skills. He appreciates clean and well-maintained facilities and grounds and the opportunity to work with others to keep it that way. Tom is a retired college professor/administrator and lives with his wife, Barb, and their dog, Buddy. They have three children and two grandchildren. He enjoys golfing, watching baseball, and volunteering in the community.
